It is now mid Jan and it is about time new year resolutions start falling apart. A study of 800 million activities by Strava predicts most new year's resolutions will be abandoned on January 19 (I find this scientific finding rather specific).
The top resolution among Canadians is to exercise more (51%). Is this year gonna be more challenging with the gym closed due to COVID-19? How about those who are ready for career advancement but the unemployment rates are at a record high?
Dr. Gillian Mandich, Founder of The International Happiness Institute of Health Science Research suggests that we reframe resolutions with focus on introspection. She recommends focusing on the feelings behind our goals. For example, if the goal is to eat healthier, think about the “why.” Is it to feel more energized? Stronger?
